How I got here......
It all started officially in 2006, though the seeds were planted in my creative mind as a small child at my Aunt's house in her kitchen. She made cakes and they were so beautiful. She had a drawer full of Wilton Yearbooks and I always sat and went through them trying to figure out with amazement how someone could possibly do these things with cake. That was back in the 80's. We've come a looong way since then LOL. Now there are so many shows on TV such as the Cake Boss and The Ace of Cakes just to name a couple These wonderfully talented people encourage and inspire me.
In 2006 I decided to do a cake for my daughters birthday party. It was a hit! It tasted amazing and looked pretty great too! Not bad for a first time I thought to myself. Friends and family all agreed and before I knew it I was doing cakes for my friends children as well. It took off from there and continued to grow, as did I. I continued to teach myself new techniques and try new mediums such as fondant and gum paste over time. In no time I had a lot of orders coming in for cakes of all sorts pouring in and my reputation for great tasting fresh cakes that looked amazing was proceeding me. Then in 2011, my family had to make a very big move. we moved from St. Thomas Ontario all the way up to Smooth Rock Falls Ontario.... 10 hours north. We didn't know anyone and my cake adventures stopped for a while. In March of 2013 things started up again with a cake being made for my girl's hockey team having an end of year banquet. I put together a large cake and shared it with other people at the venue as well as the teams and families. Before I knew it... people were asking if I would be willing to make them a cake... and business has started once more. I am please to say that I am still learning and am always looking forward to pushing a boundary, inventing something unique, and taking on another cake adventure!
